    Can't Hide This Talent

Saturday night was an exceptionally fun night. We had singers, actors and dancers perform in our talent night. It was great to see people of all ages participating in the night. However, there could only be one winner and the J-Walkers took it out with a stunning dramatic dance performance. Our Sunday School children put a lot of effort into their performance depicting the life and glory of Jesus Christ. (You can watch the performance in the link below). Prepare now for the n

Coming to a Home Near You

Summer is drawing to a close. We put our clocks back an hour last night and now we are gearing up for cooler weather. But don't me dismayed, cooler weather just means that we turn up the fire! To help stoke our fires Home Care Groups will be beginning shortly. Home Group's are small group bible studies held in the homes of believers in our community. They allow people to connect with each other and grow together. Our leaders will provide a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere

    Summer Outreach

We have been enjoying ourselves this summer in the local parks around Hamilton. Our summer outreaches have seen hundreds of visitors come out and hear about Jesus and many souls have given their lives to Christ. We have had a healing crusade, bombing competition and outdoor concerts with more to come! Park outreaches are just one way we as Christians evangelize, taking the message of Christ outside of the four walls of church and into our community. Why do we do all of this?

    Psalm Competition Winner

What a great a start to our Website Competitions. We received lots of GREAT psalms, however, there can only be one winner. Our Winning Psalm was written by Ariana Te Ngoungou-Wright from Wellington, New Zealand. We loved how this was a true 'psalm' or prayer to God and that she focused on a specific event in her life. Ari wrote explaining her psalm: "I asked God, to show me, the heart of my husband, one last time, should I continue to contend and plead for this man. This was

Word of the Week - Hear

The word of the week is hear. It is a pretty common word, but many times it is still misunderstood. Christians often feel they 'hear' well, when in fact they are spiritually hearing impaired. The Merriam-Webster dictionary has a range of definitions for the word hear; to have the capacity of perceiving sound, to be aware of sound, to gain knowledge by hearing, to listen to with attention, to gain information and to entertain the idea. Unfortunately, a lot of times when we say

    Word of the Week: Watchman

As Christian's we are called to be watchman. Jesus has said that He is coming back to get His church. We as His bride await His return with anticipation, but this is also mixed in with a pressing urgency to warn those who are not yet ready for His return. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a watchman as one that keeps guard or watch while the owner is away. The Strongs Concordance uses the Hebrew word tsaphah. This means to look out, spy , keep watch, observe or await. Ho

    Why Vote?

In a society where it seems anything goes, sometimes Christians can feel like there is no point in voting. Looking around at the contending parties, we do not see many if any that reflect what we believe, and the ones that may, seem too little to make a difference. So what should we do? In Proverbs 29:2 it reads "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan." The word here for groan is the Hebrew word 'anach' meaning t

Did You Know? Psalms part 4

It's an interesting thing that when we read the book of Psalms we assume the author to be King David. Did you know that out of the 150 Psalms in the bible only 73 carry his authorship. Which Psalms did King David Write? The following Psalms are known Psalms of David: Psalms 3–9 Psalms 11–41 Psalms 51–65 Psalms 68–70 Psalm 86 Psalm 101 Psalm 103 Psalms 108–110 Psalm 122 Psalm 124 Psalm 131 Psalm 133 Psalms 138–145 You can go to our Bible page here to look them up :-) #didyou

    Word of the Week: Engage

The word of the week is engage/engaged. This word has come up quite a bit recently in our Revival Adult Bible Series. We have been talking about the importance of not just doing the mechanics of Christianity getting caught up in the things that need to be done, but instead engaging with your heart in Christianity. Two people can be doing the same task, with only one actually pleasing God - the difference is that one has engaged their heart. "...for the Lord sees not as man se

How Firm is Your Grip on the Word of God?

The Bible is central to Christianity as it is the Word of God. Although God has used man to write it, God inspired those men and He stands by His word. Since the Bible is so important to us, we need to take stock every now and then to see what we are doing with His word. Elmer Towns shares an illustration that helps to demonstrate how we can have a grip on the Bible. He spoke about visiting an elderly lady who asked him how she could get more faith. He said he felt a little i

    Word of the Week: Cherish

Cherish is a word that we hear, but often don't take the time to consider. If you are married, the chances are you even repeated this word on your wedding day promising to "love and to cherish" your spouse as long as you both shall live. Many have an idea of what it means in some form to love, but do you know what it means to cherish? The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word cherish as to hold dear, feel or show affection for, to keep or cultivate with care and affecti

Did You Know: Psalms part 3

The name given to the book of Psalms as a whole by the Jews is Tèhillim, but is not recognised by this name in the book itself. Our English name 'Psalms' is a transliteration of the Greek title of the Septuagint 'Psalmoi', which means 'Songs'. There is no correspondence between the Greek and the Hebrew in these cases. Tèhillim is rendered 'Praises'. It is verbal noun from the root 'halel' to make a jubilant sound. #main #didyouknow

    Hastings Impact

We're on fire for God we're on fire! How can you tell someone is on fire for God? You can tell someone is on fire when everyone near them catches alight. The city of Hastings this weekend was set alight. On Thursday the 10th of August Rangi Pou travelled down to Hastings. It was a blessing for Rangi to be able to go back to a community that knew him from the past and show them the transformations that God had worked in his life. While the door closed to share the testimony at

    Word of the Week: Bless

Bless you, what a blessing, I am so blessed, God bless your day... We use these terms daily as Christians but what does it mean to bless? The Collins dictionary gives several good definitions: to consecrate, to give honour or glory, call upon God to protect, to worship or adore God, to grant happiness, health, prosperity. What is interesting is that even in these secular definitions the word bless is always in context with God. The Hebrew word for bless is barak and the Stron

Psalm 90 1 A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Word of the Week: Earnest

Oscar Wilde pointed to the importance of this word in his play performed in 1895. Although, centuries have gone by the importance of being earnest is still relevant today, both the play and the word. The Collins dictionary defines earnest as being serious in mind or intention, showing or characterised by sincerity of intention, a pledge, assurance, to be zealous or sincere. It goes on to say that, "Earnest people are very serious and sincere in what they say or do, because th

    Impacting Papakura

On the weekend we were back on impact. This time the destination - Papakura. All impacts require God to turn up in order for them to be fruitful, but on this one in particular we needed God to move quickly. This impact was advertised as the testimony of Rangi Pou getting deliverance from methamphetamine. Problem? Rangi Pou was severely sick in the days leading up to the impact. Man flu or real flu? I must confess this did pass my mind, but was told on good authority that he w

Did You Know: The Books of Psalms

The ‘book’ of Psalms is actually divided into five books and is not one book as we believe. Also, the five books of Psalms correspond with the first five books of the bible Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and the book of Deuteronomy. Psalms 1-150: The five books 1 - 41 = The Genesis Book - CONCERNING MAN 42 - 72 = The Exodus Book - CONCERNING ISRAEL AS A NATION 73 - 89 = The Leviticus Book - CONCERNING THE SANCTUARY 90 -106 = The Numbers Book - CONCERNING I

    Word of the Week: Clave

The word of the week is clave. Clave is an old expression used in the King James Version of the bible. Sometimes we can look at these old expressions and think they are redundant and not applicable to us, looking for the modern equivalent. However, some of these old fashion words say things in a more descriptive way than our modern language can. Clave is the past tense form of the word cleave. The oxford dictionary defines the word cleave as to stick fast to, adhere strongly
