I grew up in a faithful Mormon home. My dad if not Bishop, was on the Bishopric (leadership) for most of my life. We said family prayers together and read the Book of Mormon as a family each day. The 'thee thou shalt' language of 'scripture' was second nature to me. A positive impact of growing up in a religious family was that I was taught good morals, I knew about sin, I believed in God and I wanted to please Him. I read the Book of Mormon personally for myself from front t
Saturday night was an exceptionally fun night. We had singers, actors and dancers perform in our talent night. It was great to see people of all ages participating in the night. However, there could only be one winner and the J-Walkers took it out with a stunning dramatic dance performance. Our Sunday School children put a lot of effort into their performance depicting the life and glory of Jesus Christ. (You can watch the performance in the link below). Prepare now for the n
Summer is drawing to a close. We put our clocks back an hour last night and now we are gearing up for cooler weather. But don't me dismayed, cooler weather just means that we turn up the fire! To help stoke our fires Home Care Groups will be beginning shortly. Home Group's are small group bible studies held in the homes of believers in our community. They allow people to connect with each other and grow together. Our leaders will provide a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere
We have been enjoying ourselves this summer in the local parks around Hamilton. Our summer outreaches have seen hundreds of visitors come out and hear about Jesus and many souls have given their lives to Christ. We have had a healing crusade, bombing competition and outdoor concerts with more to come! Park outreaches are just one way we as Christians evangelize, taking the message of Christ outside of the four walls of church and into our community. Why do we do all of this?
What a great a start to our Website Competitions. We received lots of GREAT psalms, however, there can only be one winner. Our Winning Psalm was written by Ariana Te Ngoungou-Wright from Wellington, New Zealand. We loved how this was a true 'psalm' or prayer to God and that she focused on a specific event in her life. Ari wrote explaining her psalm: "I asked God, to show me, the heart of my husband, one last time, should I continue to contend and plead for this man. This was
The word of the week is hear. It is a pretty common word, but many times it is still misunderstood. Christians often feel they 'hear' well, when in fact they are spiritually hearing impaired. The Merriam-Webster dictionary has a range of definitions for the word hear; to have the capacity of perceiving sound, to be aware of sound, to gain knowledge by hearing, to listen to with attention, to gain information and to entertain the idea. Unfortunately, a lot of times when we say
This weekend the Hamilton Potter's House Church sent an impact team into Wellington (our baby church). Impact teams are there to do just what the name suggests, create impact. The snowy cold weather tried to hinder the impact, but with the saints on fire for God all barriers melted away.
Before the impact on Thursday weather storms and warnings hit the country and many of the roads closed up. On Thursday it looked as though we would have to go through New Plymouth adding ho
Amazed - how freely we throw this word about, but are we actually "amazed" when we use it. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines amazed as "to fill with wonder." I wonder, as we sing "I stand all amazed" if we truly are filled with wonder. Do you still your heart in awe and admiration of God as you sing the lyrics, or is it a mere cliché, an over used phrase that doesn't even pique your attention anymore? In the Greek the word for amazed is thambos. Thambos according to the
In our Adult Bible Study this week, we were asked to pray and meditate about what we personally could do to bring revival. Sometimes it is easy to throw up words in a prayer without really considering the cost of the answer. Are you ready to do whatever God asks you to do in order for revival to reach our city and nation? Are you ready to give up whatever God asks you to surrender for revival to pour out? When God does bring revival are you ready for it? Many souls saved, mea
Have you ever been so stretched that you didn't know how you would pay that surprise bill that popped up, or unexpected circumstances meant that you didn't have enough?
God wants to meet you in those moments, He is just waiting for you to believe Him for provision, instead of believing your circumstances or what you see with your eyes.
Tonight Jefferson and Maia gave God praise for His provision that He gave to both of their families.
Jefferson's job contract at his wor
Tonight we had an amazing night filled of music, laughter and fellowship. Our CONNECT night tonight took the form of a jam session/workshop/fellowship. There was something for everyone. We were encouraged to bring instruments we may have at home that we would like to jam with or wish to learn. The guitars flooded in, but we also saw some keen keyboardists and budding drummers. Pretty soon instrument groups were forming and people were playing, learning and having fun. There w
No doubt you will have noticed that we have made big changes to our website this month. The changes will keep rolling out as our media team works to update everyone through new methods. We also now have a church instagram account, so that you can see events coming up as well as what we are up to in the Hamilton church right now. You can click here to check that out. However, even with all these new changes our vision remains the same, evangelism, discipleship and church plant
